Kabuki-za Theater x Nagahama Distillation Station Collaboration Whiskey
AMAHAGAN World Malt Kabuki-za Edition
This project was realized with the intention that not only whisky fans but also Kabuki fans, traditional Japanese entertainment, would enjoy the taste of whiskey produced by Nagahama Distillation Center, which has gained worldwide recognition.
The taste of whiskey is supervised by Yamazaki Tsuyoshi, the owner bartender of Bar GOYA located in Ginza, the same place as Kabuki-za.He is the current Japanese bartender champion and the only two Sherry champions in Japan to win the Grand Prix at the first Sherry Cocktail Competition in 2007, followed by the Benenciador Official Classification Examination in 2008.The AMAHAGAN Kabuki-za edition is ripe in a sherry barrel to maximize Yamazaki's experience and obsession.
[Yamazaki tasting note]
The exterior is elegant and beautiful light gold. The top notes show the sweet nuance and oilyness of a long-aged olorosocherry, followed by roasted incense, and the nuance of oak trees, dark cherries and natties like Amontillado gradually appear gradually. The sweetness of the moment you put it in your mouth immediately changes to a dry feeling. The subtle smell of smoky incense and the nuance of the salty, bitter chocolate and prune make up a very complex flavor with its powerful attack and subtlety in its wild flavor, reminiscent of Palo Cortado. You can also feel spicy with a mixture of citrus freshness and ripe fruit incense that appears over time.Afterwards, while leaving a strong feeling in your tongue, a gentle and stretchy afterglow continues.Woody flavor is refreshing, and the tenderness of milk chocolate is wrapped at the end.
[Kabukiza Theater]
Since its opening in 1889, it has continued to evolve throughout the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Ryowa period while maintaining the traditions and formalities of classical theater. As the Kabuki Hall of Fame, it is the only theater dedicated to Kabuki that performs every month.
Nagahama Roman Beer Co.,Ltd., founded in Nagahama City on the shores of Lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture started producing whisky in 2016. The smallest distillery in Japan does not only produce single malt whisky, but also blends carefully selected whisky purchased from overseas and ages it in Nagahama’s climate. Mt. Ibuki takes on a different character with each season. Please enjoy mastery of our blending skill and the maturity created by the severe temperature difference.
The capacity of the primary distillery pot is 1,000 liters, and the residual distiller is 500 liters, the smallest pots in Japan. Heating method is indirect by steam. The name of the still is “Aranbic”. Named from the Arabian appearance. A small still from the top of a gourd shaped smooth curve still passes through a very thin line arm and is quenched by a condenser in front of it, and the spirit comes out. The small and delicate still shape creates the rich taste that characterizes Nagahama Distillery.
