A vatting of whisky matured in fairly active first-fill sherry casks and refill casks, it gives the big, meaty Mortlach character that fans of the distillery love. It is best enjoyed straight. A robust, creamy 18 year old like the Mortlach sits comfortably alongside the richness of air-cured meats. With a honeyed sweetness and a drying finish, the 18 Year Old complements chocolate truffles effortlessly.

Mortlach has been audacious since the brand’s inception in 1823. Then in 1897, Dr. Alexander Cowie joined and the very first spirit distillation went through a completely unique and fiendishly complex process.

The 2.81 distillation process created by Alexander Cowie nearly 200 years ago remains unchanged to this day. Known by all as “The Way”
