The history of Hennessy's first V.S.O.P class originates from 1817, when George IV, the then British Crown Prince, ordered a batch of Cognac from a French distillery, and he specified on his order that it was Very Superior Old Pale Cognac (Cognac with a fine amber color), which was later shortened to V.S.O.P. The V.S.O.P. is made from French Cognac, which has an alcohol content of 40%.

Hennessy V.S.O.P. is made from the finest white grapes from the French region of Cognac, blended with more than 60 varieties of life-giving waters from the four main production areas of Cognac. The amber color of this wine reveals a light and refreshing aroma, with slight hints of pepper, clove, and cinnamon, and an aromatic and smooth taste that makes it suitable for richly-flavored Chinese and Western cuisines.
