In 2014, the brand's legendary distiller, Dave Pickerell, and his team at WhistlePig's Dream Factory attempted a unique experiment in blending rye in different oak casks. In 2014, the brand's legendary distiller Dave Pickerell tried a unique experiment in WhistlePig's dream factory, working with his team to blend rye in different oak casks. The Old World Rye is a triple-flavoured cellar release, aged for 12 years in brand new American oak casks, then switched to Madeira casks (63%), Sauternes casks (30%) and Port casks (7%), giving off a symphony of flavours with rich fruit and spice notes. After 12 years of ageing in new American oak barrels, the wine was transferred to Madeira (63%), Sauternes (30%) and Port (7%) casks respectively, resulting in a symphony of flavours and a richness of fruit and spice.

Nose: Caramel, vanilla, and winter fruit.

Palate: Rye spice, apricots, plums, raisins, dates, and honey.

Finish: Dark chocolate, winter fruit, caramel, and vanilla.
