Description

Nose:

Full, deep and funky. Fine smoke, vanilla, apple compote with a dash of lemon, horse stable, mint, mineral-salty notes, caramel, light raisins, white pepper, candied orange peel, cardboard, diesel, malt, canned mango, delicate oak.The alcohol is well integrated.

Palate:

Powerful start, very creamy and full-bodied. Well-integrated alcohol. Stimulates the flow of saliva properly. Vanilla, oranges, mango, caramel, cane sugar, cardboard, salt water, canned mandarins, a hint of passion fruit, rubber bands, ginger, sweet liquorice, lime, oak spice.

Finish:

Medium-long finish. Vanilla, candied orange peel, caramel, cardboard, lemon balm, diesel, oak spice. Minutes after the last sip, I still have very nice tropical fruit notes in my mouth.

Springbank

Today, Springbank is one of only three distilleries operating in the Campbeltown area and is the oldest independent family-owned distillery in Scotland.

Looking back in time, Campbeltown is unarguably as big a part of the history of whisky as the famous drink itself. Used as a smuggling centre for the most part of the 17th and 18th century, many a bottle of Scotland’s famous liquid was distilled illegally.

Once home to over 30 distilleries, Campbeltown gained a reputation for delivering high quality whisky in the 19th century, something that saw an increased demand from blenders.
