The oldest of three Mortlach single malts unveiled in mid-2018 (alongside the Mortlach 12 Year Old and Mortlach 16 Year Old), this expression matured for 20 years exclusively in sherry casks. Intensely flavoursome stuff (as we've come to expect from Mortlach).

Nose: Roast chestnuts and tobacco, swiftly joined by dense chocolate and red berry richness. Just a whisper of meaty malt underneath.

Palate: Clove and brandy butter arrive first, before chewy dates, orange peel, mature oak and Hobnob biscuits.

Finish: Lasting Christmas spice and a touch of cooked summer berries.

Mortlach

Mortlach has been audacious since the brand’s inception in 1823. Then in 1897, Dr. Alexander Cowie joined and the very first spirit distillation went through a completely unique and fiendishly complex process.

The 2.81 distillation process created by Alexander Cowie nearly 200 years ago remains unchanged to this day. Known by all as “The Way”
