Miyagikyo 12 Year Old : The Whisky Exchange

This is a single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, Nikka's second distillery built in 1969.
The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, Miyagikyo single malt has an elegant fruitiness and
a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence.

Nikka Whisky

“NIKKA WHISKY” was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, who devoted his life to making authentic whisky in Japan. Obtaining expertise firsthand from Scotch distillers, he adopted the authentic ways of making whisky and established his own style without any compromise. NIKKA WHISKY stays true to traditions such as direct coal-fired distillation, which has become quite rare even in Scotland, and keeps progressing at the same time to pursue quality whisky. Masataka’s dream and passion is the starting point of NIKKA WHISKY and is inherited until today.
