Glenfiddich has launched the fifth edition of its Experimental Series—the "Orchard Experiment"—which innovatively uses casks that previously held apple brandy (also known as apple liqueur). 

This whisky was initially matured in American oak casks before being transferred to the apple brandy casks for additional maturation for approximately 4-6 months. 

Similar apple-cask expressions may have appeared in whiskies from other brands, but the idea of finishing in "sweet fortified apple brandy casks" is truly unique in the world today. 

The Orchard Experiment features a label in a bright, fresh green, while the outer packaging is accented with red reminiscent of ripe apples. The casks used for finishing come from the Somerset Pomona expression of Somerset Cider Brandy in the UK.

Aroma: Classic Glenfiddich pear notes with hints of fresh apple and delicate oak.

Palate: Tropical fruit flavors gradually transform into sweet buttery toffee, caramel apple, and elegant woody tones as it hits the throat.

Finish: Sweet and lingering.

About Glenfiddich

The first impression of Glenfiddich is that of its scale. This 35 hectare site contains a cooperage, coppersmith, bottling lines, a vast warehousing complex and two stillhouses containing 28 stills – by some distance the largest number in Scotland. This is malt whisky making on a huge scale.
