Bowmore No Corners to Hide captures our past and the legends which define it – telling a story that flows from water to whisky. Two exceptional expressions are released as part of No Corners to Hide, a 23-Year-Old and 32-Year-Old, creating the first chapter of the Frank Quitely Series. Each edition is numbered, with the 32-Year-Old featuring an exclusive hand signed print by the artist.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
FRANK QUITELY
Born in Glasgow in 1968, Vincent Deighan loved to draw. His dream was to make this his career. After studying drawing at Glasgow School of Art, he began his creative exploration through the world of comic fiction. Carving an impressive career from the Scottish underground comic scene, he adopted the pseudonym Frank Quitely.
Today thirty years since his creative journey began, Quitely is now synonymous with first class visual storytelling with a reputation cemented in the world of graphic illustration and accolades which are themselves awe-inspiring.

We celebrate this legacy with this intriguing collaboration between acclaimed graphic artist and Bowmore’s Master Blender to create a visual and sensory masterpiece.
Through his inspiring creative lens, Quitely reinterprets this story; paying homage to a legend which has shaped the village of Bowmore and too, our distillery home. Calling on his earliest memories of Scottish folklore, Quitely is no stranger to the role of the devil in many an epic tale.“To get the call from Bowmore, a legendary icon in the world of whisky, was offering me the opportunity of retelling the Islay Legend No Corners to Hide was hugely exciting” says Quitely. He continues, “And to do this in a single image would prove massively challenging but taking inspiration in the Devil himself, it’s all in the detail.”
Master Blender Ron Welsh brings the story to life through the development of the whisky character, calling on the senses to transport you into the heart of the story. “Much like the devil, both aged spirits took their own particularly unusual defining journey in Essencia® barriques, a peculiarly rare ‘Rose Oak’ dating back to the 1830s which creates character to transport you to that cold winter’s night.” ha

MATURATION
The initial decades of maturation in American oak hogsheads reflects a timely occupation in cask, much like the devil’s own alleged escape.
What followed was an unusual journey into Essencia® barriques, a rare ‘Rose Oak’ dating back to the 1830s, to bring an exceptionally deep, powerful and distinctive character to the fore.
TASTING NOTES
Rushing quickly from the glass, the scent of incense, beeswax and a struck match transport the senses to Bowmore’s round church. The unmistakable notes of Bowmore’s subtle peat smoke, brine and oak linger on the finish, tempting the soul.

Bowmore Distillery

Bowmore is the first licensed Islay distillery.
It has stood on the shores of Lochindaal, a sea loch opening out into the wild Atlantic Ocean, since 1779.
