The 2015 edition of Big Peat at Christmas has flown in on a no horse open sleigh! As ever, Big Peat is a full-bodied, gloriously peaty blended malt made with whiskies from some of Islay's most renowned distilleries, including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and even Port Ellen. In celebration of the festive season, however, it's been bottled at cask strength! Top stuff from the folks at Douglas Laing.

Nose: Milk chocolate Hob Nobs, scorched earth, smoked ham and a little sea spray.

Palate: Warm ashy sand, coastal flora and more sea salt amidst bonfire smoke, nutty barley and soft fruits.

Finish: Long, nice and sooty.

Carries a big sooty, beachy, oceanic, and seriously phenolic selection of malts distilled only on Scotland’s whisky island of Islay. Islay’s distilleries are renowned for their predominantly peaty, smoky character, all offering variations on the theme of ash, beach bonfires, coal dust and tar.
